CULTURAL AND CIVIC SERVICES DEPARTMENT

The Cultural and Civic Services Department oversees the Tarpon Springs Public Library, Tarpon Springs Performing Arts Center, Tarpon Springs Cultural Center, Heritage Museum, Train Depot Museum and Visitors Center, and the 1883 Safford House. In addition, it serves as the City's liaison with the Tarpon Springs Area Historical Society.

The department preserves and promotes the City's heritage, develops cultural and heritage tourism opportunities, and creates high quality performing and cultural arts activities for the public to enjoy on a year round basis.

The Tarpon Springs Public Library provides easy access to information and special programs as well as a wide array of reading and audio-visual materials for recreation and study.

Kathleen Monahan, Director of Cultural and Civic Services, has served the City of Tarpon Springs for over 28 years. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Irvine; a Master of Arts in Musicology from Wesleyan University; and Master of Library Science from the University of South Florida and a Ph.D. in Ethnomusicology from the University of Pittsburgh. She also serves as a liaison to the Sister City Committee.
