Finance Department

The Finance Department conducts all payable/receivable functions for the city; accomplishes weekly payroll; supplies financial information to the city and Board of Commissioners; makes investment and financing recommendations; monitors the city-wide cash plan; monitors compliance with the city budget; coordinates preparation of the city budget and coordinates review of the city’s financial statement by an independent auditor.

Ms. Arie Walker was appointed Finance Director for the City of Tarpon Springs in September 2000. Prior to her appointment as Finance Director, Ms. Walker served the City of Tarpon Springs for eleven years in the capacity of Senior Staff Accountant, Payroll Accountant, and Internal Auditor. Ms. Walker earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Husson College in Maine and holds certification as a Certified Public Accountant in Florida. She has 22 years of experience as a CPA in both public and corporate practice. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She has also completed graduate level courses toward a Master of Public Administration at City College in Bellevue, Washington.
