Firefighter of the Year "AirHorn" has been a member of the Tarpon Springs Fire Rescue family for 28 years. The Clowning program is just one example of his many talents. He helps spearhead our public fire safety education and awareness activities by giving station tours, working our annual open house, fire prevention week, and performing in our new puppet program. Firefighter "AirHorn" enjoys attending all of our city wide functions which includes the chili cook-off, Santa tour, and our Holiday food basket drive. In addition to all those events Firefighter "AirHorn" dedicates his off time to children at the Florida Children's Burn Camp, Great American Teach In, and in class room reading projects.

Fire Marshal Rick Butcher
Emergency Management, Tarpon Springs Fire Department

Fire Marshal Butcher has over 25 years experience in Fire Science with Tarpon Springs holding the positions of Firefighter, Driver/Engineer, EMT, Paramedic, Lieutenant and Fire Inspector and currently Fire Marshal. As Fire Marshal, some current responsibilities include Fire prevention, inspections, plan review, public education, arson investigation and Emergency Management Coordinator for the City of Tarpon Springs.

Fire Marshal Butcher has functioned as speaker and participated in several Governors' Hurricane Conferences and worked as Fire Marshal for Olympic Venues at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games. He is also a member of several organization including Florida Fire Marshals & Inspectors Association Board, Tampa Bay Fire Marshals Association, and Boys & Girls Club Board Member for 22 years. Fire Marshal Butcher was named "Fire Marshal of the Year" for 2003 by the State Fire Marshal and Inspectors Association.
