Athens Street and Dodecanese Boulevard Drainage Analysis (Phase 1)
Project Summary:
Phase 1: Check valves
Scope: Installation of backflow prevention, “tideflex” check valves at three outfall locations (Hope, Athens, Arfaras-Marina) that will reduce impact of street flooding during high tide events.
Cost Estimate: $200,000
Funding source: Stormwater Utility/Penny for Pinellas
Status: Project design is complete, currently out to bid for construction contract.
Phase 2: Storm Pipe Upgrades
Scope: Upgrade the storm sewer system by adding inlets and larger pipes to increase conveyance capacity.
Cost Estimate: $630,000
Funding source: Undetermined
Status: Conceptual design/analysis has been completed.
Phase 3: Stormwater Storage (Vault) and Pumping Station
Scope: Installation of a underground stormwater storage vault and pumping system to move water quickly off streets and away from structures. Requires completion of phases 1 and 2 to properly function. Installation would be in property owned by the City north of Dodecanese Blvd near Athens Street.
Cost Estimate: $1,269,000
