Sustainability Plan

Actions in the plan relate to the three pillars of sustainability:

  • Environment
  • Economy
  • Social

The plan include 50 actions, focusing on City operations, which will be implemented in phases over the next 10 years.  The actions within each section are further categorized by the following sections:

  • Natural Environment
  • Climate & Energy
  • Built Environment
  • Local Economy
  • Equity & Community
  •  Health & Safety

The plan will also be tied into other city plans including the Strategic and Comprehensive Plans.  An annual progress report will be published to demonstrate the City's progress toward implementing the plan.

Comprehensive Plan

The 2045 Comprehensive Plan was adopted in September 2024. This long-range planning and policy document provides Tarpon Springs direction for the next 20 years!

The Plan guides land use, development, economic development, land preservation, parks and recreation, transportation, public facilities, coastal management, housing, and historic preservation, through a sustainability lens.

Strategic Plan

The City of Tarpon Springs teamed up with the University of South Florida Institute of Government and Saint Petersburg College Collaborative Labs to develop a strategic plan.

This strategic plan is organized around a few broad-reaching focus areas to serve as a guide city budgeting, capital project planning and program development over the next 3-5 years.

The Strategic Plan is complimentary to, and coordinated with, the City's Comprehensive Plan, which has a much longer planning horizon of 20 to 30 years.
