Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee
Overview of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee
The Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee (PRC) consists of seven members appointed by the Board of Commissioners. The Director of Public Services and the Director of Public Works also serve as ex-officio members. The PRC is advisory to the City Commission and City staff to represent the recreational interests of the citizens of Tarpon Springs, provide oversight of the City park system and to offer solutions and ideas in all matters affecting recreational experiences that enhance residents’ quality of life.
Several major improvements have been completed or are in work across our city; Sisler Field upgrades, Dorsett Park upgrades, Sunset Beach facilities, Riverside Park upgrades, and the current project to install pickle ball courts in the exercise park. We have also instituted a park inspection program to help ensure our parks are safe and maintained properly. Park vandalism is an ongoing problem. Please help us keep our parks looking great and in working order by reporting any suspicious or vandalism activities.
The PRC extends an open invitation to the citizens of Tarpon Springs to our monthly meetings where we discuss current and future projects related to the City’s parks and recreational programs. Are we meeting your recreational needs? Do you have any ideas that would benefit the community? If so, we would love to hear from you on how we can improve our services to the community. The committee has a standing meeting on the 2nd Monday of each month, except holidays, at 4:30 pm at the Recreational Center. Please consult the city calendar to confirm meeting times.
