City of Tarpon Springs sustainability staff hosted a sustainability lecture series in partnership with Tarpon Arts from February- May 2023 as part of the annual Knowledge & Nibbles event series. This series featured four, free dynamic presentations focused on a diverse array of topics ranging from water conservation and challenges with micro plastics to how to have a Florida-friendly lawn, all presented by experts in their respective fields.

Earth Day

The City of Tarpon Springs hosted two events in celebration of Earth month! The City’s Earth Day Celebration took place at the Tarpon Springs Library on Saturday, April 22, 2023 and featured free food, games, giveaways, and activities, as well as an EV ride and drive activity hosted by the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy. This was a green event with vegan food options, certified compostable products, and compost stations. City departments were in attendance discussing their green initiatives, as well as numerous community partners including: Peace4Tarpon, Garden Club of Tarpon Springs, Gro Group, Keep Pinellas Beautiful, and the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy.

The City of Tarpon Springs Police Department hosted a free shred event on Saturday, April 22, 2023 which allowed Tarpon Springs residents to safely shred their secure documents. At the end of the event, the paper shred materials were recycled.
