Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC) Green Local Government Certification:

The City of Tarpon Springs received the FGBC Green Local Government Certification Silver designation in 2013 and 2018. This certification designates green cities and green counties in Florida for outstanding environmental stewardship.

Greenhouse Gas Inventory:

The City of Tarpon Springs completed a Greenhouse Gas Inventory using ICLEI software to estimate municipal emissions for the year 2019. This does not include community-wide or scope 3 emissions. You can view the results of our inventory below:

Solar Energy

Duke Clean Energy Connection Subscription:

The City of Tarpon Springs participates in the Duke Clean Energy Connection program. Participation in this program allows the city to subscribe to Duke’s solar energy fleet and receive Renewable Energy Certificates annually. Participation in this program will lead to energy savings over time.

Solar United Neighbors of Florida (FL SUN) Pinellas County Solar Co-op:

The City of Tarpon Springs supported the Florida Solar United Neighbors (FL SUN) 2022 Pinellas County Solar Co-op as a Community Partner. The City was also a Community Partner for a 2017 FL SUN Solar Co-op.

The City completed Phase 1 of the solar installation at the Reverse Osmosis Facility in 2020. It is comprised of a 162kW DC solar system. The facility is in the process of an additional Phase 2 installation.
